USAIN BOLT HAS been named in Jamaica’s 63-member team for Rio 2016 despite fears injury would rule the sprint star out of the Olympic Games.
The six-time Olympic gold medalist suffered a grade one hamstring tear during team trials earlier this month, having run a time of 10.04 seconds in the semi-finals.
However, the 29-year-old will get the chance to defend his titles in the 100 metres, 200m and 4x100m relay at the Games next month, having his medical exemption accepted by the Jamaica Olympics Association (JOA).
He was named as part of a bumper team – with 59 of those competing in track and field, along with a diver, a gymnast and two swimmers.
Bolt is seeking to become the first man to win three straight triple-triples after wins in Beijing in 2008 and London in 2012.
Bolt also revealed via video that he will be competing at the London Anniversary Games on 22 July, ahead of the Olympics which begin on 5 August.
