‘WE’RE FROM CORK, we’re from West Cork… and most importantly, we’re from Skibbereen.’

Once again, the O’Donovans knew the right thing to say this evening.

Skibb welcomed home two of their favourite sons, Gary and Paul, after their exploits in Rio and Rotterdam where they won Olympic silver and a world title.

The pair were paraded through the town before they met their public and chatted to RTÉ’s Jacqui Hurley.

Paul O’Donovan: ‘We’re not great at judging crowds but I’d say there’s a million or something here’

The whole of Skibbereen came out for the O’Donovan brothers’ homecoming this evening
