Nibali still in red, Kiryienka wins Vuelta 18th stage as Roche in fifth overall

It was another great ride by the Irishman as he came in 11th today.

NICOLAS ROCHE PUT in another great day’s work in the saddle to come in 11th on today’s Vuelta a Espana stage to remain fifth overall.

Italian Vincenzo Nibali clinged on to his narrow lead after a gruelling 18th stage.

Sky’s Belarus rider Vasil Kiryienka won the stage after breaking away at the end of the 186.5km ride from Burgos to Pena Cabarga that featured five categorised climbs, including a tricky final ascent.

The race concludes this weekend in Madrid.
