SWAPPING SHIRTS HAS long been a tradition at the end of football matches, but it’s not too often that the exchange occurs between a player and one of the supporters.
But that’s exactly what happened at the end of Sweden’s 1-0 victory over North Korea on Saturday when striker Josefine Oqvist struck up a conversation with one of the 24,000-strong crowd in Augsburg’s Impuls Arena.
As the pair chatted, the quick-thinking fan whipped off his Germany replica strip and offered it to the 27-year-old. Without batting an eyelid, the star swapped her own jersey with her admirer before giving him a quick peck on the cheek.
Oqvist and Sweden are back in action this evening when they take on the USA in the Group C decider in Wolfsburg. Both countries have already qualified for the tournament’s quarter-final stage but a win for either side tonight would guarantee top spot in the group and a seeded tie in the knockout stages.
