WE KNOW THAT ballboys in Brazil have a reputation for getting involved where they shouldn’t, but even by their standards, this is a little bit ridiculous.

A Campeonato Sergipano match between Sergipe and Guarany ended in controversy yesterday when a ballboy took it on himself to act as the home side’s 12th man and cleared Guarany’s goal-bound effort off the line in injury time.

As the furious Guarany players protested to the referee, the youngster high-tailed it out of the ground delighted with his contribution, no doubt.

Fortunately, the incident didn’t affect the outcome of the match, which Guarany won 1-0.
