Welcome to Manchester (again): Tevez touches down for City return

The striker is expected at Manchester City’s training ground this afternoon, more than three months after leaving for his native Argentina without permission.

CARLOS TEVEZ HAS arrived back in England ahead of his proposed return to training with Manchester City.

The Argentine striker and his family touched down in Manchester Airport earlier this afternoon.

Press Association report that Tevez, who has been in Argentina without permission since 7 November, is due at the club’s Carrington training facility at 5pm this evening.

The 28-year-old has not played for Manchester City since he apparently refused to play during a Champions League tie against Bayern Munich in October. Tevez maintains that he never refused to play but refused to keep warming up, saying that manager Roberto Mancini had treated him “like a dog”.

He is expected to undergo a series of fitness tests before City decide when he can return to first-team action.
