AN AUSTRALIAN BASKETBALL mascot has landed himself in hot water — after shooting an opponent with an air rifle.
Croc, the mascot of Queensland’s Townsville Crocs, was made apologise to Anatoly Bose following the incident during last week’s National Basketball League match between the Crocs and the Sydney Kings.
Australia’s Daily Telegraph reports that Croc was firing t-shirts into the crowd when he hit the Kings forward in the back.
“It scared the shit out of me,” Bose said. “I complained to the referee. He said there’s nothing he can do about it. I said ‘you can kick him (the mascot) out of the game. He’s using a damn air rifle.’”
This is not the first time that Croc has courted controversy with his uncrocodile-like behaviour. In March, Townsville were cautioned by league officials after Croc was spotted making lewd gestures in the direction of an opponent.
