AUSTRALIA LOCK WILL Skelton said on Wednesday his season was over after suffering an Achilles injury playing for French Top 14 club La Rochelle on the weekend.
Skelton, who captained his country at the 2023 Rugby World Cup, was helped off the field in the first half of Saturday’s loss to Bayonne.

The giant 33-year-old won the last of his 37 caps against New Zealand in October.
“Season cut short. Thanks for all your messages,” Skelton said on Instagram.
“See you 26/27,” he added.
In addition to the end of the club campaign, Skelton is set to miss Australia’s first games in the Nations Championship in July — including their meeting with Ireland in Sydney — as well as the start of Les Kiss’ tenure in charge with 8 August’s Test against Japan.
