World number one Trump beats Robinson to land third title

The Englishman, who became world number one with his semi-final victory over Peter Ebdon, won the International Championship in China.

JUDD TRUMP CAME back from 8-6 down to beat Neil Robertson 10-8 in the inaugural International Championship in Chengdu.

The Englishman, who became world number one with his semi-final victory over Peter Ebdon, picked up the first prize of £125,000 by beating the 2010 world champion.

Robertson had led 5-4 after the first session but Trump levelled on a rerack in the opening frame of the evening session, before going ahead for the first time in the game.

It seemed that the 23-year-old held the advantage but Robertson managed to hit his stride, rattling off breaks of 68, 88 and 73 to go 8-6 up.

Then it was Trump’s turn. He took a cagey 15th frame before almost making a century to level.

A break of 119 saw him close to within one of the title, and he had his third ranking title when Robertson failed to respond to an opportunity.

For the likable Australian, it was only a second defeat in 12 ranking finals.
