Youth football coach sacked after leading his side to a 25-0 victory

The club’s management felt that the winning margin was not in keeping with the spirit of the game.

A SPANISH YOUTH coach has been sacked for guiding his team to a 25-0, a margin which club management felt was not in keeping with the spirit of the game.

The manager of the Serranos B’s under-11 team was removed from his position after scoring the huge victory over fellow Valencia side Benicalap C earlier this month.

It was Benicalap C’s last game of the season and had already lost all of their previous matches.

Speaking to Spanish newspaper El Pais, a spokesperson who helps run the side, said that they removed the youth coach in the interest of promoting fair play.

“We believe in encouraging respect for your opponents. After the result, we decided that the manager should leave.”

“He did not handle the situation well.”

The youth coach’s lawyer was also interviewed by the paper, and said that his client did not push his players to continue scoring.

The newspaper also states that one-sided results of this margin are not infrequent in Spanish Youth football, but that teams stop counting after more than 10 goals are scored.

Benicalap C’s finished the league in last place with zero points from 30 games. They also conceded 247 goals.
