FOUR IRISH PLAYERS have been included in the 2016 PFA Teams of the Year.

Chelsea defender Niamh Fahey makes the Women’s Team of the Year, attacking midfielder Alan Judge of Brentford is named in the Championship Team of the Year, Gillingham centre-back John Egan — son of the Kerry GAA legend of the same name — features in the League One side and Northampton midfielder John-Joe O’Toole is included in the League Two team.

The Championship side features 12 players owing to an unprecedented tied vote, with Hull’s Michael Dawson and Daniel Ayala of Middlesbrough sharing one of the centre-back spots.

Chelsea star and Irish international Fahey has excelled for her club, helping to guide them to the FA Cup final recently.

Ireland international Judge has been a revelation for Brentford, scoring 14 league goals and contributing 11 assists, before recently suffering a season-ending injury that means the star will miss Euro 2016.

In addition, 23-year-old Egan has made 37 appearances in all competitions for Gillingham, scoring five goals. The ex-Sunderland youth player has starred in defence for the League One side who are currently chasing promotion in sixth.

Meanwhile, ex-Ireland U21 international O’Toole has scored 12 goals in 40 appearances for Northampton, whose promotion up to League One was confirmed following a 2-2 draw with Bristol Rovers earlier this month.
