Jose Aldo's 'bitter' post-fight comments may actually have been lost in translation
HIS WORLD TURNED upside down in just 13 seconds, Jose Aldo stood stunned in the Octagon and attempted to make sense of it.
“I think that we need a rematch. It was really not a fight,” the humbled Brazilian reportedly said after Conor McGregor’s lightning featherweight title win.
The bitter comments provoked boos from the Las Vegas crowd and prompted Joe Rogan to point out that ”it was certainly a fight — it was just a fight that happened and ended very quickly.”
But it now seems that Aldo’s comments, relayed live through a translator, may have been misinterpreted in the heat of the moment.
Brazilian MMA manager Matheus Aquino provided an alternative translation for BloodyElbow.com:
Rogan was quick to offer an apology on Sunday once the revised translation was brought to his attention.
“My apologies to @josealdojunior for the confusion,” he tweeted. “Nothing but respect for Aldo.”
Doubters must admit defeat as record-breaking McGregor answers last big question with ease
