BT Sport reportedly set to lose rights to show UFC and NBA

Eleven Sports set to snap up UFC rights for Ireland and Britain.

BT SPORT ARE set to lose two of their marquee rights packages after refusing to get drawn into a bidding war for new UFC and NBA deals, BBC reports.

The broadcaster has been the home of both sports for viewers in Ireland and Britain in recent years, but that looks set to change when their current deals expire later this year.

A Reuters report on Monday indicated that Eleven Sports, one of the newest players in the global sporting rights market, has won the British and Irish rights package for the UFC.

BT’s deal with the UFC runs until 3 December, while their NBA deal expires in October.

“We won’t bid any more than the rights are worth to us,” a company spokesperson told the BBC.

Eleven Sports announced last week that they have acquired the rights in Ireland and Britain for next week’s PGA Championship golf, and will broadcast the tournament through their website and Facebook page.
