Irish midfielder drops down to Championship to join Leeds on two-year deal

Eunan O’Kane links up with Garry Monk at Elland Road.

IRELAND INTERNATIONAL EUNAN O’Kane has completed a deadline day move to Leeds United for an undisclosed fee believed to be in the region of €1 million.

The midfielder leaves Bournemouth after four years and becomes the Championship club’s 11th signing of the summer.

O’Kane, who was due to be in Martin O’Neill’s squad for tonight’s friendly against Oman, has put pen-to-paper on a two-year deal at Elland Road.

The 26-year-old made 16 appearances for Bournemouth in the Premier League last season but the impending arrival of Jack Wilshere at the Vitality Stadium would likely have reduced his first-team opportunities.

He hasn’t featured for Eddie Howe’s side this season but will hope to make an instant impact at Leeds, who are already struggling in 21st place under new boss Garry Monk.
