Staying put! More good business by St Pat's as midfield duo commit for 2018

Killian Brennan and Owen Garvan have re-signed with the club.

ST PATRICK’S ATHLETIC midfielders Killian Brennan and Owen Garvan have re-signed with the club ahead of the 2018 SSE Airtricity League season.

Both players linked up with the club in June and played key roles as St Pat’s avoided relegation from the top tier.

And they’ve both been rewarded for their efforts, putting pen to paper earlier today.

33-year-old Brennan rejoined from Drogheda United and was pivotal in the tail-end of last season. He’s won a League title and FAI Cup with Pat’s, making 121 appearances and scoring 24 goals in a total of four seasons.

Garvan meanwhile, spent five years at Ipswich Town between 2005 and 2010 and has also had spells at Millwall, Bolton and Colchester United.

The 29-year-old’s experience shone through upon his return to Dublin and he’ll be hoping to carry that form into 2018.

“We’re delighted to have secured the lads’ signatures for 2018 as they each will add great quality and depth to our squad,” manager Liam Buckley told the club’s official website earlier shortly after announcing the signing of Simon Madden

“Re-signing Killian and Owen is great news for us as they both have such great ability on the ball and will add great quality to our midfield. They’re two players the fans in particular will be delighted to see back in Richmond Park come the start of the league in February.

He continued: “Owen was particularly unlucky when he began with us as he missed a few games through suspension and one or two through a nasty injury so having him fully fit at the start of the season will be great.

“With both of the lads in there with the other players we’ve signed to date, we’ll be pushing to finish as high as we can next season.”

The Saints completed a deal for experienced Shamrock Rovers defender Madden today and did further good business on Tuesday, re-signing Lee Desmond and Michael Barker, and welcoming Ireland U19 striker Thomas Byrne.
