The Ravens are bad, but they still might be good enough in a terrible AFC

The Baltimore defence was the star of the show on Monday Night Football.

THE BALTIMORE RAVENS (6-5) remain in the playoff hunt following a defensive slugfest with the Houston Texans on Monday Night Football.

The win elevates them to sixth seed in the AFC but, if they are to play meaningful January football, they certainly won’t be counting on an offence run by Joe Flacco despite the 23-16 win.

The one time Superbowl winner was 20 of 32 pass attempts for 141 yards and now has 72 interceptions to 80 touchdowns in the past five seasons. For context, Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers have combined for 61 over the same time period.

Indeed, the best Baltimore pass of the night came from punter Sam Kock when he completed a 22-yard effort to Chris Moore to set up Buck Allen’s 10-yard touchdown run to level the game at 7-7.

The Ravens — including Allen and noted Irish dancer Alex Collins — did rush for 139 yards and two scores, but when you’re only converting three of 14 third downs, making the postseason might be as good as it gets for Baltimore.

The Texans (4-7), after going 90 yards in nine plays to open the scoring, looked as inept as you’d expect a Tom Savage offence; his two interceptions — and fumble with four minutes remaining — ultimately costing them any chance of winning this game.
