The Westmeath footballers could lose one of their brightest stars to the AFL

Ray Connellan is travelling to the AFL combine in Florida next year.

WESTMEATH’S RAY CONNELLAN was one player to catch the eye at the recent AFL Europe talent combine in Dublin.

And Connellan’s efforts have been rewarded with a trip to Florida in the new year, when leading Australian clubs will run the rule over the versatile Westmeath player once again.

Local radio station Midlands 103 reported the news this afternoon and Connellan has also tweeted his excitement.

Connellan made his senior championship debut against Louth in 2014 and he also scored a crucial point against Meath in the famous victory over the Royals last summer.
