I CAN’T IMAGINE many of those bodies were in a fit state to swing a golf club this morning, but those that were got a real treat, as world number two Rory McIlroy paid a visit to the Irish camp in Wales.
McIlroy was at the Millennium Stadium for yesterday’s win against France, and he took the short trip out to Newport to say hello to the team in their base at the Celtic Manor resort today.
And he took the squad members out to the practice range for their own private masterclass, taking their minds off the game yesterday.
And despite waiting anxiously on results of a scan, Johnny Sexton popped out to pick up a few tips from the four-time Major winner.
Ian Madigan looked the part in this Payne Stewart ensemble.
Luke Fitzgerald found Sean Cronin’s attempted drive pretty funny….
But karma was about to strike…
After sending the golf ball approximately one inch off the tee, Fitzgerald ended up sending the driver 30 metres down the range.
And luckily, the IRFU were there to capture the whole thing on film.
Not a bad way to spend your Monday morning.
