Some prankster rang Sky Sports pretending to be Shay Given and they put him on air

Did the Ireland goalkeeper ever sound like that?

WITH NEWS OF Jack Butland’s season-ending injury emerging this evening, Sky Sports News decided to get some reaction from the young goalkeeper’s Stoke City team-mate Shay Given.

But what they didn’t know was that it wasn’t in fact the Irish international on the other end but some prankster who didn’t sound anything like the Donegal man.

The presenter soon realised that the 24-hour sports news channel had been fooled and quickly pulled the plug on what must have been the shortest interview ever.

Butland fractured his ankle in Saturday’s 3-2 victory over Germany in Berlin, casting a doubt over his hopes of making Euro 2016.

With the 23-year-old sidelined, Given’s own chances of going to the tournament could be given a lifeline if he gets an extended run in Mark Hughes’ side.

However, he was quick to send his support to his young team-mate, although we can’t confirm if this was the man himself or not.
