Massive blow for France as star centre is ruled out of Six Nations with ruptured Achilles

Wesley Fofana sustained the injury in Clermont’s victory against Exeter.

FRANCE INTERNATIONAL CENTRE Wesley Fofana is set to miss the Six Nations after rupturing his Achilles tendon in Clermont’s thumping 48-26 European Champions Cup win over Exeter today.

The 29-year-old, who has 44 caps for France, suffered the injury late in the first half, just after scoring one of his team’s five tries.

“He injured his Achilles tendon and we are worried,” said Clermont coach Franck Azema.

“We don’t know if it’s a partial or total rupture.”

France start their Six Nations campaign on 4 February against England at Twickenham.
