Shawn Michaels' upcoming appearance in Wexford has been cancelled

A spokesperson for Riverside Park Hotel, Enniscorthy, originally told The42 that the event was going ahead.

AN EVENT IN Wexford purporting to feature WWE legend Shawn Michaels has been “cancelled,” according to the hotel that were supposed to be hosting it.

An advertisement circulating on Twitter and Facebook originally suggested Michaels was coming to Wexford next week for a ‘meet and greet night’ in conjunction with ‘Alive Church’.

The event was due to be taking place at Riverside Park Hotel in Enniscorthy on Wednesday, 8 July at 7pm, and admission was set to be free.

A spokesperson for the hotel originally told The42 that the event was taking place and said that they were expecting a big crowd as they had received “a lot of calls” about Michaels’ prospective appearance.

However, Michaels subsequently tweeted, saying that the event was not happening, and the hotel today then told The42 that the event had been “cancelled” last night.

The meet and greet had also been originally advertised on an Alive Church Facebook page, and the organisation has yet to respond despite numerous attempts by The42 to contact them.

Michaels, whose real name is Michael Shawn Hickenbottom, is widely regarded as a WWE legend, having headlined countless major pay-per-view events between 1989 and 2010.

He has held the WWF/WWE title on several occasions and was inducted into the organisation’s Hall of Fame in 2011.
