JAMES MCCARTHY, ANDY Moran, Stephen Cluxton and David Clarke are all in the running to claim the 2017 Footballer of the Year award.
The four players have all been nominated for the honour which is part of the 2017 PWC All-Stars.
The decision was taken to settle on four candidates rather than the traditional three, so as not to prejudice what the final team selection may be.
The nominees were decided by a committee made up of Gaelic Games correspondents and chaired by GAA President Aogán Ó Fearghail.
Inter-county players will now vote for the winners of the Footballer of the Year award and the Young Footballer of the Year award.
The awards will be presented at a banquet on Friday 3 November at Dublin’s Convention Centre.
The three youngsters in line for that accolade are Dublin All-Ireland winner Con O’Callaghan, Cork’s Seán Powter and Galway’s Michael Daly.
