McGeady the latest to withdraw from Ireland squad

Rumours of Liam Brady’s impeding call up cannot be confirmed.

AIDEN MCGEADY IS the latest player to withdraw from the Republic of Ireland squad for their friendly against Wales next Wednesday.

According to a statement released by the FAI, the winger sustained a knee injury during a training session with Spartak Moscow.

The 27-year-old midfielder follows Anthony Pilkington, Simon Cox and David Forde to withdraw from the game which was supposed to give Giovanni Trapattoni a chance to assess his options ahead of next month’s World Cup qualifiers with Sweden and Austria.

No replacement has yet been named.
