AIDEN MCGEADY’S REJUVENATION at Preston continued today.
The Ireland international was on target with a long-range effort on the brink of half-time, as a 2-1 win over QPR saw the Lilywhites go within six points of the Championship playoff spots.
Fellow Irish players Daryl Horgan, Alan Browne and Greg Cunningham all featured for the hosts, while Andy Boyle was an unused sub, and Ryan Manning completed 90 minutes for the visitors.
After joining on loan from Everton at the start of the season, McGeady has quickly become a fan favourite at Deepdale.
The 30-year-old has impressed with some influential displays, and now has three goals in his last four appearances for Simon Grayson’s side.

Elsewhere in the Championship, an 82nd minute Ciaran Clark header got leaders Newcastle out of jail, as they drew 2-2 with Bristol City at St James’ Park, with fellow Irish international Callum O’Dowda playing the full game for the visitors.
Anthony Forde’s long-range effort couldn’t prevent Rotherham losing 4-2 to Brentford, with John Egan completing 90 minutes for the latter.
Meanwhile, in Scotland, Dubliner Adam Rooney continued his fine form, as his 69th minute goal — bringing his overall tally for the campaign to 17 — sealed a 1-0 victory for Aberdeen against Ross County.
The Dons, who also had Irish international Jonny Hayes in their side, are now nine points clear in second place. However, they still trail runaway leaders Celtic by 24 points.
Brendan Rodgers’ side won again today, as a brace from Moussa Dembele ensured a 2-0 victory over Hamilton.
