'There is no chance': Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain ruled out of the Euros

Arsenal midfielder set to miss six to eight weeks with a knee injury.

ARSENAL MIDFIELDER ALEX Oxlade-Chamberlain has been ruled out of Euro 2016 with a knee injury.

The England international has struggled for form this season due to a number of injury issues, and will miss up to eight weeks with this latest lay-off.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger admitted his disappointment but said there was “no chance” of Oxlade-Chamberlain being fit enough to travel to France.

“It’s very sad,” Wenger said. “He was physically ready.

There is no chance of the Euros for him. He will be back at the beginning of July.

Wenger also confirmed that centre-back Per Mertesacker will play no further part this season due to a hamstring problem, but Santi Cazorla could return against Manchester City on Sunday.

“Cazorla came through an U21s game well. The season is over for Mertesacker due to his hamstring.”
