Football decider showdowns in Louth, Wexford and Wicklow

There are three county senior titles down for decision in Leinster tomorrow.

Tomorrow
Louth SFC final
St Patrick’s v Dreadnots
Gaelic Grounds, Drogheda, 4.15pm
Dreadnots presence lends novelty to this final as they must go back to 1889 for their last showing in the senior decider in the Wee County.

The Paddy Clarke-managed side will hope Padraig Rath, James Califf and Anthony Williams can inspire them to a surprise triumph. But St Patrick’s are seasoned competitors having won four of the last nine titles.

Having trounced Dreadnots by 20 points in the opening round of this season’s group stages, they are strong favorites and can also call on midfielder star Paddy Keenan along with Dessie and Ray Finnegan.

Verdict: St Patrick’s
Betting: St Patrick’s 1/5, Dreadnots 4/1, Draw 10/1

Paths to final
Group 4: St Patrick’s 3-19 Dreadnots 2-2; St Patrick’s 0-13 Naomh Mairtin 0-6; Dreadnots 2-14 Naomh Mairtin 2-8.

Semi-Finals: Dreadnots 0-11 Newtown Blues 0-10; St Patrick’s 2-7 Cooley Kickhams 0-6.

Wicklow SFC final: Baltinglass v St Patrick’s, Aughrim, 3.15pm
Baltinglass last lifted this title in 2007 but were denied at the final stage in 2010. They have some talented operators to call on in John Flynn, Peadar Burke and John McGrath.

For their part St Patrick’s were defeated in the deciders in 2008 and 2009 but they did win titles in 2004 and 2006. They will hope Mattie Byrne, Paul Earls and Dean Healy can inspire them.

Verdict: Baltinglass

Wexford SFC final: Castletown v St Anne’s, Wexford Park, 3.30pm
Castletown were celebrating in 2010 their first senior title since 1981 but then lost out last year at the same stage to Horeswood. In the group stages they were defeated by St Martin’s but exacted revenge in their recent semi-final and can call on county goalkeeper Anthony Masterson along with James Holmes, Colm Morris and Conor Carty.

St Anne’s were defeated in the 2009 final but put titles back to back in 2000 and 2001. Redmond Barry and David Fogarty are their key figures.
