SIX-TIME ALL-Ireland senior winning goalkeeper Aoife Murray has come out of retirement to rejoin reigning champions Cork’s squad before the start of the 2016 camogie championship.
Murray revealed her decision to retire in the aftermath of Cork’s All-Ireland final win over Galway last September, which saw them retain the O’Duffy Cup.
But it has been reported today by the Evening Echo newspaper that Murray has rejoined the Cork squad in a major boost to manager Paudie Murray as they prepare for next Sunday’s Munster semi-final against Tipperary.
Cork are grouped with Clare, Limerick, Offaly, Waterford and Wexford in the round-robin phase of this summer’s All-Ireland championship.
Murray has enjoyed a hugely successful career and won All-Ireland senior medals in 2005, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2014 and 2015.
Her personal displays saw her claim All-Star awards in 2004, 2008, 2009, 2012, 2014 and 2015.
