YESTERDAY IT WAS announced that former UFC champion Benson Henderson was moving to Bellator.

The Arizona-based fighter (23-5 MMA, 11-3 UFC), who has claimed victories over the likes of Frankie Edgar, Donald Cerrone and Nate Diaz over the years, signed with the rival promotion and looks set to make his debut in a welterweight title fight.

ESPN are reporting that Henderson will face champion Andrey Koreshkev (18-1) on 22 April in Uncasville, Connecticut.

25-year-old Russian Koreshkev has not fought since winning the 170-pound belt with a unanimous decision victory over Douglas Lima at Bellator 140 last July, while Henderson recorded two wins (v Jorge Masvidal and Brandon Tatch) and one loss (v Cerrone) in 2015.

A ‘strep throat’ is the reason the Sage Northcutt bandwagon came to a halt
