WE DIDN’T HAVE to wait long for the first great goal of the new League of Ireland season.

The Soccer Republic cameras were in the Showgrounds as Shamrock Rovers beat Sligo Rovers 2-0 on Saturday evening.

Brandon Miele could hardly have dreamed of a better way to open his account for the season, last year’s Young Player of the Year curling this gem of a free-kick past the helpless Micheál Schlingermann.
