Memorable weekend for Brendan Cummins as he helps two counties to landmark wins

If Carlsberg did GAA coaching weekends.

BRENDAN CUMMINS ENJOYED a decorated career as a player and it appears he’s making a seamless transition into coaching.

The former All-Ireland winning goalkeeper with Tipperary is currently part of the backroom staff with both the Kerry and Laois senior hurling sides and he had a busy, but memorable, weekend.

On Saturday, Cummins was at Croke Park as the Kingdom finally got their hands on the Christy Ring Cup at the third time of asking, beating Derry with plenty to spare.

Then, less than 24 hours later, Laois hosted Offaly at O’Moore Park and recorded their first championship win over their near neighbours in 43 years.

As goalkeeping coach for both counties, and a regular on The Sunday Game, Cummins is in for a busy summer.
