Family first! Carlo Ancelotti hires his son as Bayern Munich assistant manager

Davide Ancelotti was previously a fitness coach with Real Madrid.

THE BUNDESLIGA WILL have its first father-son coaching ticket this season after Carlo Ancelotti didn’t look far from home to find his new assistant manager at Bayern Munich.

Davide Ancelotti may have very little coaching experience but the 27-year-old has landed the role under his old man’s stewardship.

Ancelotti Jnr is a former youth team player at AC Milan but when his career never took off, he instead focused on getting a degree in sports science.

From there, the Italian worked under his father at Real Madrid in a fitness coach capacity where he worked closely with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo.

“I support our coaches both in training and in prematch preparations,” he told Bayern’s YouTube channel.

“On the training pitch, I explain exercises or just help out with the language. My father speaks German well but doesn’t understand everything yet. I like the language — it’s difficult but I find it very interesting.”

The German champions open their campaign against Werder Bremen at the Allianz Arena on Friday night.
