Villa fans protest against their owner as Pato makes impressive Chelsea debut

Pato scored Chelsea’s second goal from the spot to hand them a 2-0 lead.

ALEXANDRE PATO took the field in a Chelsea shirt for the first time against Aston Villa this afternoon, and left fans wondering why he hasn’t featured before this point.

The forward was introduced on 24 minutes when Loic Remy limped off with an injury.

Pato, who hadn’t made a single appearance for Guus Hiddink’s side despite arriving at the club on loan in January, had an immediate impact.

Appearing in his first game since November, when he last played for Sao Paulo, the Brazilian was involved in the build-up to Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s goal.

Then right before half-time, he won and converted a penalty to hand Chelsea a 2-0 advantage at half-time.

By the interval he’d already scored more goals in the league than Eden Hazard this season.

Pato bagged a brace after the break before Villa defender Alan Hutton was dismissed to round off a grim day for the home side.

The Villa fans held up placards which read “Proud history. What future?” in the second half, before striking up a rendition of  “You’re not fit to wear the shirt!” as the players left the field after the game.
