Cissé apologises for sending off, but says Johnson got off lightly

The French striker admits he lost his cool against Wolves, but only because of the nature of Roger Johnson’s tackle from behind.

QPR STRIKER DJIBRIL Cissé has apologised for the reaction to Roger Johnson’s tackle that saw him dismissed in Saturday’s defeat to Wolves, but felt that he needed to make a point.

The former Liverpool and Sunderland striker raised his hands to Johnson’s neck after a tackle from behind, immediately seeing red from referee Mark Clattenburg.

While Cissé – making only his second QPR appearance – admits he should not have acted the way he did, he felt should have been made of the initial tackle.

“I would like to apologise for my stupid reaction which cost us the game. I shouldn’t react like this,” Cisse posted on his Twitter account.

“I have to say that the tackle was very dangerous and he could have broken my leg. After two leg breaks I felt scared and I reacted like this.

“But my reaction was stupid and I feel really bad because I let my team down.

“I promise to make it up to all the fans and my team.”

QPR were leading 1-0 at the time of the sending off, but Wolves rallied and won all three points, thanks to strikes from Matt Jarvis and Kevin Doyle.
