One-game ban could see Conor Gormley miss Mayo showdown

The Tyrone man may be slapped with a one-game suspension.

TYRONE MAY HAVE to line out against All-Ireland football championship favourites, Mayo, without Conor Gormley.

The Red Hand star has been handed a proposed one-game ban by GAA officials for this incident with Monaghan’s Dessie Mone last time out.

The players clashed as the sides left the field at half-time in the hard-fought quarter-final at HQ. Martin Penrose was subsequently sent off for his role in it but now Gormley too has been retrospectively banned.

Mickey Harte is likely to appeal the decision to the CCCC. The Ulster side face James Horan’s Mayo champions at HQ on 25 August. No one from the Tyrone county board was immediately available for comment.
