Cork to face Kilkenny and Galway to meet Clare in All-Ireland quarter-finals

The pairings are now known after this weekend’s action.

Updated 20.10pm

JIMMY BARRY-MURPHY’S Cork team will face Brian Cody’s Kilkenny side in the All-Ireland senior hurling quarter-final on July 28th.

While Davy Fitzgerald will take his Clare team into action against Anthony Cunningham’s Galway outfit on the same day after the pairings emerged following this weekend’s action.

Cork’s defeat in this afternoon’s Munster senior final meant there was no need for a draw to determine the pairings as Cork cannot meet Clare having met them already in this season’s provincial championship.

Thus the Rebels will face the Cats, dramatic victors over Waterford after extra-time last night in Semple Stadium.

While Clare, who got the better of Wexford after extra-time last night at Thurles venue as well, will take on Galway, who lost last week’s Leinster final.

The games will form part of a double-header and will most likely take place in Semple Stadium.

Dublin will play in the first of the 2013 All-Ireland senior hurling semi-finals on August 11th while Limerick will be in action in the same stage of the competition a week later on August 18th.

If Galway or Cork triumph, they will avoid the team they lost to in the provincial final as the GAA do not allow provincial final repeats at the All-Ireland semi-final stage.
