Danny Garcia wins WBC welterweight title - now is a rematch against Amir Khan next?

Khan next in line as Garcia scores unanimous points win.

AMIR KHAN WATCHED from ringside as the undefeated Danny Garcia beat Robert Guerrero to win the WBC welterweight title last night.

Garcia recorded a unanimous points victory — 116-112 on all three cards —  to take his record to 32-0 and claim the belt left vacant following Floyd Mayweather’s retirement.

“I want to fight the best,” the American said. “Danny Garcia never ducked anybody.

“I’m back where I belong. I am now a two-division world champion.”

Britain’s Khan is the mandatory WBC challenger, and may get his chance to make amends against Garcia who knocked him out in four rounds when they met at light-welterweight back in 2012.

But Khan could skip the grudge match and instead opt for a summer blockbuster against IBF champion Kell Brook — provided the Sheffield native comes through his 26 March title defence against Kevin Bizier as expected.
