Cup hero Danny North gets new Sligo contract

North has agreed a deal to stay at the Showgrounds in 2014.

FAI CUP HERO Danny North has signed a new contract with Sligo Rovers.

The striker, who scored two and set up the winner when he came off the bench against Drogheda, has been out of contract since the Aviva showpiece.

North, 26, missed a large part of last season through injury but will return for a third campaign at the Showgrounds.

“I’ve scored goals since I’ve come here,” he told the club website. “There are good players around me who create chances and it’s up to me or whoever is up front to put them away.

With a good pre-season under my belt I hope I can hit the ground running from the start like I did in 2012.

“I missed the guts of a year because of injury so I’m really looking forward to next season. I’m buzzing to stay, I’ve enjoyed my time here and I can’t wait for that first game next season already.”
