Sproles rolls over Colts as Eagles claim win from 14 points down

The running back came up with the big plays as Chip Kelly’s Philly stay unbeaten.

CODY PARKEY DRILLED a 36-yard field goal as time expired on Monday Night Football to lift the Philadelphia Eagles to a 30-27 NFL victory over the Indianapolis Colts.

Darren Sproles starred for the Eagles, this touchdown levelling the game after LaSean McCoy kick-started the comeback with Colts leading 20 – 6.

Sproles ran for 26 yards and caught seven passes for 152 yards – 51 of which came with this fleet-flooted play to help set up the winning score.

“He’s just a special player,” Eagles coach Chip Kelly said of Sproles. “He came through and came up huge for us tonight.”

Eagles quarterback Nick Foles completed 21 of 37 pass attempts for 331 yards and one touchdown with one interception as the Eagles won in Indianapolis for the first time since 1993.

Colts quarterback Andrew Luck was 20-for-34 for 172 yards with three touchdowns. But he also threw a costly fourth quarter interception and the Colts fell to 0-2.

The Colts led by seven and were within field-goal range late in the fourth quarter when Luck’s pass intended for T.Y. Hilton was intercepted by Eagles safety Malcolm Jenkins.

Philadelphia trailed 17-6 at half-time, but after Sproles took that short pass in his own half 51 yards there would only be one winner.

Parkey’s initial 36-yard field goal attempt with three seconds remaining was good, but Philadelphia’s celebration was cut short and their kicker iced. Parkey lined up again and again his effort was good.

“We’re going to play a full 60 minutes,” said Kelly, “and it took the full 60 today.”
