Diary of a Fantasy Gaffer: Doubt Luis Suarez at your peril

We finally ditched the Liverpool striker as captain and what did he go and do?

LAST WEEK, HAVING finally gotten fed up with Luis Suarez, I controversially decided to take the captaincy off him.

One goal in eight games for the normally freescoring Uruguayan had this Fantasy player, and many others, losing faith in his God-like ability.

Granted, we kept him in the team, but the doubt was there for all to see. And of course, he then bloody well went and scored for the first time in almost seven hours last weekend.

He also set up two, meaning those that wisely retained him as captain would have received a healthy 30 points.

Unfortunately, in my infinite wisdom, I decided that Adebayor was bound to score a hat-trick, as Tottenham had a seemingly easy game at home to Cardiff to contend with.

That wasn’t to be the case though, as I was left to curse his one meagre assist and apologise to Suarez for ever doubting him.

Surely now, therefore, the solution is simple: give Suarez back the captaincy and pretend this whole debacle never happened.

Well no actually, because Liverpool aren’t playing this weekend, so I’m stuck with Adebayor as my main man.

Elsewhere, Ramires — is solid, will start games — comes in for Charlie Adam, who has only gone and got himself suspended until 29 March.

Meanwhile, the FA Cup means TheScore Machine’s players from Liverpool, Arsenal, Man City, Newcastle and Everton — half the team basically — have been rendered irrelevant for this weekend.

So let’s cross our fingers and hope that, to compensate for their absence, Steven Whittaker finally comes through and scores that hat-trick he’s long been promising.
