Ken Doherty just shaded his wildcard match against Mohammad Sajjad in the Shanghai Masters, 5-4 the final score.
Sajjad, the Pakistani champion, went ahead 4-2 at one stage but Doherty fought back with two half century breaks- winning the decider with a break of eighty three.
“World number 33 Andrew Higginson proved too strong for Rouzi Miamaiti, coming through 5-2. Robert Milkinscould not recover from gifting Jin Long the first three frames of their match, eventually succumbing 5-3 to the local favourite. Tian Pengfei could not join Long in the first round, going down 5-2 to Jamie Burnett in a match where both players hit breaks in excess of 130.”
