Leicester stage late comeback as Spurs join the big boys in crashing out

Elsewhere, Derby and their Irish contingent marched on.

LEICESTER STAGED A dramatic late fightback to knock Tottenham out of the FA Cup as Jeffrey Schlupp’s last-gasp goal sealed a 2-1 fourth round win at White Hart Lane.

Nigel Pearson’s side travelled to the capital rooted to the bottom of the Premier League, but they belied their lowly status with a dynamic recovery after falling behind to Andros Townsend’s first-half penalty.

Still trailing with only seven minutes remaining, the Foxes clawed their way into the fifth round as Leonardo Ulloa netted before Schlupp struck two minutes into stoppage time.

The surprise victory should provide a boost to Leicester’s bid for top-flight survival, while also serving as a further indication that Tottenham remain a work in progress under Mauricio Pochettino.

Meanwhile, Derby County sealed their place in Monday’s fifth round draw with a comfortable 2-0 victory over a Chesterfield side which contained Eoin Doyle and Jay O’Shea.

Derby, who themselves had three Irish players in their starting XI, hit the front through Darren Bent after 20 minutes before Will Hughes sealed the win with ten minutes remaining.

West Brom continued their fine form under new boss Tony Pulis as they earned the bragging rights in the Midlands derby against Birmingham.

Victor Anichebe scored twice in the first-half to put the Premier League visitors in control before Jonathon Grounds pulled one back for Gary Rowett’s side. But, it proved to be a mere consolation as the Baggies held on.

Sunderland and Fulham require a replay after the sides drew 0-0 at the Stadium of Light. The hosts had Jack Rodwell sent-off shortly after the hour mark but the Championship side couldn’t take advantage.

Elsewhere, Reading came from behind to beat Cardiff 2-1 in the Welsh capital and Preston North End and Cup specialists Sheffield United drew 1-1.
