Ruby Walsh and Willie Mullins landed a Grade 1 double at Fairyhouse today

Long Dog and Arctic Fire won the day’s two big hurdle races at the Meath track.

RUBY WALSH AND Willie Mullins bagged a Grade 1 hurdle double on a day for the favourites at Fairyhouse.

Arctic Fire (4/5 fav) was a comfortable winner of Sunday’s feature, the Bar One Racing Hatton’s Grace Hurdle over 2m4f, beating Gigginstown runner Alpha des Obeaux by four lengths.

A few minutes earlier Walsh and Mullins had teamed up for their first success of the day when 1/2 favourite Long Dog dug deep to hold off stable companion Bachasson by a neck.

Later, the Gordon Elliot-trained No More Heroes impressed as he pulled away to win the Drinmore Novices Chase in the hands of Brian Cooper.

Sent off the 13/8 favourite, the six-year-old continued his winning start over fences and held off Monksland by two-and-a-half lengths.
