Collingwood hail Finnbarr Roarty's 'courage' after opting for AFL rookie deal
FINNBARR ROARTY HAS been praised for his “courage” after taking the decision to leave Donegal and pursue a career in Australia with Collingwood.
The 2025 Young Footballer of the Year has joined the AFL outfit as a Category B rookie.
Roarty departs with a senior Ulster title to his name and Collingwood’s national recruiting manager, Shane O’Bree, has hailed the 20-year-old’s potential ahead of the move.
“Finnbarr is a highly talented young athlete. His competitiveness, athletic profile and leadership qualities have stood out throughout his Gaelic career and we’re excited about what he can bring to our Club,” he said.
“Moving across the world to pursue an opportunity like this takes courage and we’re excited to be welcoming Finnbarr and his family to the Club. We look forward to seeing him embrace the program and continue to grow as a footballer.”
