Division 2 wins for Donegal, Laois and impressive Monaghan

Meath were humbled by the Farney County.

Donegal 1-16 Galway 0-12

A relatively large travelling support was rewarded with a Donegal win in Galway this afternoon. Jim McGuinness saw his side race into a 1-6 to four-point lead at the break with Colm McFadden finding the net midway through the first half.

The 2012 All-Ireland champions closed out the game despite Alan Mulholland’s charges improving in the second period. It’s two wins on the trot for Donegal who look intent on returning to the top flight.

Laois 2-8 Louth 0-11

Conor Meredith scored a goal and was dismissed in the first half of this eventful clash at the Galiec Grounds in Drogheda. Ross Munnelly also raised a green flag for Tomás Ó Flaharta’s outfit in the first period.

After his excellent fisted goal, Meredith was dismissed for an off-the-ball incident, making his side’s task a tough one. Louth got the margin back to two points in the second half before a late rally ensured the win for Laois however.

Monaghan 0-20 Meath 0-8

If we’re talking about results of the day, this has to be in the conversation. Monaghan ran riot in Clones to claim a facile victory.

The Ulster side were 0-13 to a single point ahead at the break and while the sides each hit seven points in the second half, the Royals will reflect on a game in which they were completely outplayed.
