GALWAY AND ROSCOMMON will face off again next Saturday in the battle to see who lifts the Connacht title – but both counties will be heading to Castlebar.
After today’s 1-10 to 0-13 draw in Pearse Stadium, Roscommon are entitled to home advantage for the replay yet their stadium at Dr Hyde Park is unavailable as it undergoes redevelopment.
Thus Elvery’s MacHale Park has been confirmed as the venue for the clash between Kevin Walsh’s side and Kevin McStay’s outfit.
It is the first Connacht senior football final replay in 18 years with Galway winning that clash back in 1998 against Roscommon en route to lifting Sam Maguire that September.
It remains to be seen when Mayo’s All-Ireland Round 3B qualifier will take place, if they are drawn first in tomorrow’s draw and thus get home advantage for next weekend’s clash.
Mayo will face either Longford, Cork or Kildare after yesterday’s success over Fermanagh in Castlebar.
