JAPAN WENT DOWN, but they went down swinging against Scotland today.
Vern Cotter’s side managed to run in five tries against the Springbok slayers, but only in the second half when Eddie Jones’ men were feeling the effects of fatigue against a nation who was in their first tournament outing.
The closest Scotland came to crossing for a try in the first half was in the closing minutes, when they appeared to create ample room for Tommy Seymour to finish off a sweeping move.
However, goal-kicking fullback Ayumu Goromaru had other ideas, and the 29-year-old with taped-up fingers sprinted to cover the ground before smashing Seymour in to touch with a sensational tackle.
