The Sun's headline has attracted widespread controversy.

Here's how Twitter reacted to THAT Roy Hodgson headline

The Twitterati were practically queuing up to condemn The Sun’s controversial front page today.

THE FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION has slammed a British tabloid for its ‘disrespectful’ headline after Roy Hodgson’s appointment as England manager.

Rupert Murdoch-owned The Sun mocked the former Liverpool boss’ speech impediment with its front-page headline on Wednesday reading: ‘Bwing on the Euwos’.

While the FA has not launched a formal complaint against the publication, it has condemned the ‘unacceptable’ nature of the headline.

“The FA and the Press Complaints Commission (PCC) have today received a large number of objections relating to the front page headline in The Sun newspaper, regarding Roy Hodgson’s manner of speech,” an FA statement read.

“On this occasion, we will not be making an official complaint to the PCC but we have raised it with the newspaper and made it clear that their front page is unacceptable to us.”

While reiterating the governing body’s disappointment at the headline, FA chairman David Bernstein expressed his satisfaction with the overall media reaction to an appointment, which took many by surprise.

“We are delighted at the media response to Roy’s appointment but are disappointed with the headline in The Sun, which we consider is in poor taste and disrespectful,” he said.

Hodgson was confirmed as Fabio Capello’s successor on Tuesday and will be charged with leading England’s Euro 2012 campaign in Poland and Ukraine next month.
