Darren Hughes is back from injury to take his place in the Monaghan team for Sunday’s provincial showdown with Down as manager Eamonn McEnaney rings the changes.
DARREN HUGHES WILL return to the starting line-up for Monaghan in Sunday’s Ulster SFC semi-final against Down in the Morgan Athletic Grounds as manager Eamonn McEnaney makes four changes in personnel from the side that defeated Antrim at the quarter-final stage.
The team captain from Scotstown is named at right half-back after missing their last encounter through injury with Kieran Duffy the player to make way. Elsewhere in the defence Drew Wylie gets the nod at right corner-back as he replaces Donal Morgan. In attack there are two alterations with Pete Dooney selected at right half-forward and Kieran Hughes at right corner-forward with Matthew McKenna and Christopher McGuinness both losing out.
Hughes and Dooney are rewarded after striking 0-3 between them when introduced during the victory over Antrim but Tommy Freeman, who starred as he grabbed 0-2 when sprung from the bench in that game, is held in reserve on this occasion.
