Snapshot: Hurling breaks new ground as full-back wears leggings

What next, snoods?

HURLING FANS UP and down the country did a double take this afternoon as Oulart-The-Ballagh full-back Eoin Moore strode out at Nowlan Park in the Leinster club SHC final.

‘Are th… are they long pants he’s wearing?’

Now we’re used to the lads playing soccer over in Russia wearing that sort of attire, or maybe wouldn’t have put it past a few flighty half forwards in gaelic football. But in hurling, a full-back of all people, we expect a harder breed.

It’s all very well wearing them and winning, as Oulart did in the semi-final, but to lose…

We expect a very sensible explanation.
