Here's an incredible stat about Ireland's heroics at the Cricket World Cup

IRELAND PULLED OFF another incredible Cricket World Cup win when they beat the West Indies in Nelson on Monday.

How incredible?

Thanks to a stellar effort from the top four in the batting order — William Porterfield, Paul Stirling, Ed Joyce and Niall O’Brien — Ireland posted a total of 307/6.

Successful run chases of 300+ runs are a rarity in one-day international cricket. According to ESPN Cricinfo’s database it has only happened 54 times, and only six times at the Cricket World Cup.

Remarkably, Ireland now own three of the top four spots in the record books with their latest win joining the unforgettable 329 they posted to beat England in Bangalore four years ago and their 307 against the Netherlands at the same tournament.
